SU-56.
American 1820-1830 era Militia Infantry Officer's Sword marked on the
blade by the manufacturer of AW Spies. AW Spies was active
at
producing swords from about 1820 to 1851. The 1820s eagle head
officer's swords were carried and popular with officers of the infantry
up to and including the Civil War. This sword is in overall good
condition for it's age. There are minor chips on the
mother-of-peal
handle and the cross guard is slightly loose and can be twisted from
side to side. There is light surface rust (or darkening) on areas
of
the blade especially near the tip, however, nothing too major or
detracting. Overall, a very nice sword that displays extremely
well........$2,100.
