Rare Charlotte NC mint Civil
    War Gold Five Dollar Coin....
 In the early 1800s before the Civil War,
The Government opened a mint in Charlotte
 NC to mint coins from gold found in NC...
 This mint had a very low mintage, Gold
 coins with the Charlotte mint  "C" are Rare.
This mint closed in 1861 at the start of the
Civil War and never again opened, most of
the "C" mint coins in the Southern banks
were shipped to Europe to buy supplies for
the Confederate States, and ended up melted.
This coin is an 1860 Civil War dated  $5 Gold
 piece, minted at the Charlotte mint at the
 start of the Civil War....
