iMM-152. Imperial German ( Hate Belt ) During WW-1
Soldiers would put together these belts with buttons and insignia that
they would get from trading with other allied soldiers they would
meet and somtimes with buttons and insignia they took from enemy
soldiers that they killed. Because some of the belts were made from
buttons taken from killed enemy soldiers, they all became known as
-Hate Belts- This one is a very nice belt with many buttons
on it and an early Imperial buckle, the belts owner also marked it as
1918 - 1919 showing the time period that he collected these
buttons. This belt also has written on the back the name and unit
of the U.S. Marine that took this belt from its original German owner
(see picture 7). It is marked on the back " Pvt.
Merle L. Jones 67 Co. 5th Marines 2nd
Div. American E.F. Niederbreitbach Germany May 21 1919".......$425.00 - - - - - - ---
