WWII Rare
Hawley
Experimental Liner, the Hawley was the first try of Liners for
the
WWII helmet, It turned out that Hawley liners were very Fragile
and
prone to water damage, Most ended up broken or damaged so production
was
stopped and a new compostion liner introduced for use during the rest
of
the War, making the Hawley a Rare bird to find still around)))
This
one has been in this helmet since the war and to try and remove it
would just distroy it. The helmet has early 1941-1942 Fixed bails with
early stitched on ChinStraps. The camouflage cover is an early marine
issue with no slits for camo folage to be placed in. Because of the
liner not being able to be taken out safly, the cover has also not been
able to be taken off. What is under this cover is an unknow
treasure
for the next owner to discover or not. Now the other unusual
thing
about this helmet, is the camouflage cover is covered with VietNam era
Graffetti -- Why - How come??? This is a one of a kind helmet for

was
stopped and a new compostion liner introduced for use during the rest
