Bonds have interest notes or coupons attached. On each of these interest coupon notes are the date of issue and the date when they could be cashed in. (usually every six months) All of these bond interest notes, like all Confederate Money are hand signed & serial numbered. (some notes had the numbers stamped on instead of hand written) These bonds were issued with a number of interest notes attached, the number of interest notes with a bond, depended on how much and how often interest was to be paid. When a Confederate Bond had all its interest notes removed and cashed in, then the bond could be cashed in for its full face value.
The paper used for bonds was usually white or brownish-pink and printed only on one side. Some paper was heavy or thick stock others were very tin, flimsy paper. Each of the interest notes had the cash value on it, depending on the interest rate for that bond, such at $15 per interest note with most 500 Dollar bonds and $30 with most 1000 Dollars bonds.
